We calibrate our delivery teams to best serve our client’s needs.

It’s no secret that consulting firms make money by deploying resources to clients.  The people are the product.  The margin is the markup on the cost of that resource against the chargeable rate.  

 

Traditional consulting firms make the most margin on junior resources – they take ambitious college graduates, work them hard on a fixed salary, convince the resources the extra work is in the interest of their professional development, and then turn and charge them out at exorbitant rates.  These are the resources clients typically see – inexperienced people who often can’t get the job done. 

 

Our model changes that. We don’t need an exorbitant margin on a junior resource. We don’t have the frills of a large firm – high priced office space, senior leadership entitlements, and large marketing budgets.  We focus on what matters to our clients – delivering the right resources, enabled with the right delivery accelerators,  focused on your objective.

Our people are a combination of former Big 4 partners and professionals, supplemented by Fortune 500 finance leaders.

We understand that any consulting firm is only as good as the resources deployed on a given client project. Whether the business card has a big firm logo or a specialized boutique – the value delivered to the client will mostly come down to the individual resources partnering with the client to deliver on the work.

Christopher Mello

Chris brings over 20 years of finance and business transformation leadership to Mello Consulting Group. His visionary leadership, extensive professional network, and relentless pursuit of positive client outcomes have become the backbone of our firm. As a former Big Four Management Consulting partner, Chris has led large project teams of consultants while architecting comprehensive finance transformation solutions leveraging the latest enabling technologies and workforce optimization methods. He developed a passion for the work and an obsession with delivering successful client outcomes. In terms of capabilities, Chris offers the gambit to the office of the CFO. He leads Fortune 500 and emerging PE back organizations through multi-year, comprehensive transformational initiatives. With his background as a Certified Public Accountant, he specializes in finance and accounting operations, accounting close and consolidation, business planning and forecasting, tax, treasury, investor relations, master data management and external and management reporting. He also has held interim and fractional CFO and CAO positions in a number of organizations. Chris has also found several ways to put his passions to use to give back to the community. He continues to do Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) work for underserved taxpayers, he volunteers and coaches for several youth sports leagues, and he serves as the Treasurer of the Marginal Way Preservation Fund, a non-profit organization dedicating to the beautification and preservation of coastal walkway in Ogunquit, ME. Chris graduated summa cum laude from Boston College, earning both a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Operations Management as well as a Master’s degree in Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Massachusetts and a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA) and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He, his wife Allison, and children, William, Evelyn, Henry, and Hazel make their home in North Easton, MA.

Allison Mello

Allison has over 15 years of transformation leadership experience specializing in designing and implementing target operating models across people, process, and technology in the key processes relevant to the office of the CFO. Prior to MCG, Allison built a career in finance transformation, including serving as a Partner at CFGI in the Finance Transformation practice and several years at KPMG, leading multi-year, global finance and accounting transformation programs enabled by technology. Allison’s skillset includes hiring, developing, and training large project teams of talented consultants and working closely with clients to form trusted and lasting relationships. After taking time away from the office to welcome two more children to the Mello family, Allison and her husband, Chris, are building Mello Consulting Group into a place where our clients, our people, and our firm mutually benefit from successful outcomes without some of the burden or commitments that are typical with large consulting firms. In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant in Massachusetts, Allison attended the University of Massachusetts Isenberg School of Management, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Information Systems and a Masters of Science in Accounting. After years of city living in Boston, Allison resides in North Easton, MA, with her husband, Chris, and family.

Steven Hatchouel

Steven brings 10 years of office of the CFO experience to the MCG team. Throughout his career, he has led multi-year finance transformation programs and M&A integrations at multiple Fortune 500 and PE backed organizations. He specializes in Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) processes and technologies, focused on FP&A, strategic finance, financial close & consolidation, and financial reporting initiatives, but has also held roles focused on transactional finance processes including lead-to-cash, procure-to-pay and general ledger accounting. Having spent the early years of his career building technical EPM solutions, Steven helps bridge the gap between Finance and IT departments, delivering integrated and scalable solutions that find the right balance across the process, technology, data, governance and organizational components of the finance function. Prior to joining MCG, Steven was a Director in the Transaction Strategy & Execution practice at EY-Parthenon where he focused on Finance M&A integrations and separations. He began his career in the Finance Transformation practice at KPMG. Steven received a Bachelor of Science in Corporate Finance and Accounting from Bentley University and is a certified implementation specialist in Oracle Planning and Oracle Financial Close & Reporting solutions. Originally from Boston, Steven currently resides in South Florida.
